Emergency Contacts

Please ensure the school is informed of any changes to your emergency contact details. In the event of an emergency involving your child, it is essential that we can reach you promptly.

Prescription Medication

If your child needs to take medication during the school day (for example, antibiotics), this must be brought to the School Office. It should be accompanied by a completed MED1 form, which includes details of dosage and timing. Forms can be downloaded here: MED1 form.pdf.

A member of staff will supervise and administer the medication accordingly.

Students must not carry medication with them during the school day, as this helps prevent accidental misuse. The only exception is inhalers, which students may carry; these should be clearly named where possible.

Inoculation Records – School Nursing Services

The school does not hold student inoculation records. Information about upcoming vaccinations will be shared via school communications, along with the relevant consent forms.

Chronic Medical Conditions

If your child has a chronic medical condition, please keep the school informed of any updates or changes. This is particularly important for school trips and extracurricular activities, where accurate medical information is essential for your child’s safety.

Illness and Infection Control

To help prevent the spread of infection, please keep your child at home if they are unwell and not fit to attend school.

Students who have experienced vomiting or diarrhoea should remain at home for at least 24 hours after symptoms have stopped.

If your child sustains an injury outside of school (e.g. at the weekend), please ensure it has been appropriately treated before their return. Students on crutches must report to the School Office on their first day back.

Please note that school staff are unable to treat suspected fractures or breaks.

Medical Support During the School Day

If a student feels unwell during the school day, they should report directly to the School Office.

They will be assessed, and parents/carers will be contacted if it is necessary for the student to go home. Students should not use mobile phones to contact home themselves.

In some cases (e.g. minor colds or headaches), students may be advised to return to lessons and will not automatically be sent home.
