House system

House System

The House System is designed to incorporate the character values and ethos of the school and aims to be an integral part of our school community. Here at King James Academy, every pupil and staff member is assigned a house. By being a member of the house family, students and staff are encouraged to show team spirit as all of the houses thrive on the ethos of “it’s the taking part that counts”.

There are four Houses across the school, incorporating students from Year 5 right through to Year 11: Dragon, Griffin, Pegasus and Phoenix. There are many house events throughout the year from all areas of school life. This blend ensures that everyone has the opportunity to represent their house in something that they enjoy or are good at. Staff lead by example and take part in exactly the same events as the students. These competitions regularly attract crowds of supporters cheering for their house.

High Standards and Expectations

Students and staff at the academy have high expectations of themselves and one another. Students are expected to be leaders amongst their peers, modelling behaviour both in and out of the academy that their parents and carers would be proud of.

Our students work hard and so do our staff. We want the best for your child, we want them to succeed and fulfil their dreams and your expectations, we want them to be successful, happy and to have choices about their future. We will be relentless in providing your child with opportunities. In return, we will expect them to work hard, conduct themselves positively, and be committed to academy life.
