Curriculum planning is at the heart of everything we do at King James, it is central to providing our learners with a broad and balanced range of subjects and will prepare them for the next steps in their learning instilling a life-long love of learning along the way.
King James' essential meme is Curriculum of the Head, Heart and Hands. ( In the words of Mary Myatt, renowned educationalist)
Head: an academic education developing in-depth knowledge of, for example, science, math, design, history and culture.
Heart: a character education building resilience, kindness, tolerance and openness.
Hand: a 'can do' education that nurtures creativity and problem solving.
Our belief is that learning should be enjoyable and this is reflected in our pupils’ enthusiasm and commitment. It is reflected in all that they do whether learning a new language, conquering a climbing wall or discovering how to measure the calories in a ‘skip’.
At King James, we aim to provide different experiences outside the classroom. Our community is lead by staff and pupils who have others’ interests at heart and who give their own time to run and support clubs and events, listen to those with a problem or lend a hand.
We strive for excellence and set no limits on what we believe our young people can achieve, whilst helping them to be fully rounded individuals. With qualifications that support them to get to the next phase of their post 16 education, and a well-developed sense of not just who they are, but who (and what) they can be.
