Student Voice here at KJAR is of extreme importance and something we pride ourselves on. We value student views on every aspect of school life. We want to nurture a culture where all children feel listened to, valued, respected and empowered. Currently there is a range of opportunities for listening to our students on key issues in our school and for students to contribute to our community.
School Council - A nominated group of students from across all year groups who meet to voice their opinions, concerns and suggestions for improvement to ensure that our school is a safe and happy place to be.
Young Sports Leaders - A team of students working towards the Young Leader Award which aims to help learners develop leadership skills such as organisation, communication and teamwork, as well as helping to build confidence and self-esteem as they take on responsibility of leading their peers and younger children.
Music Leaders - A selected group of students who are keen to support the Music department and support with organisation and act as role models to the younger children in the school, in practical and inspirational ways.
Digital Leaders – A team of students who are passionate about computing and are able to help develop this area in our school.
Active Listeners - A group of students who have applied and been trained to act as ‘Anti-Bullying Ambassadors’. Active Listeners are trained in listening skills; empathy; body language; confidentiality and when to refer on to an adult. They provide support ‘on demand’ at a drop-in service in designated rooms usually at lunch break, or are on duty around the school at break times.
Student Questionnaires – We question all pupils on their opinion to gain an insight into student views to inform our planning and next steps.
